The Vedic approach to meditation, whether taught live or through an online course, is simple, easy and accessible. It doesn’t ask you to battle with your mind, tying to have fewer or nicer thoughts. You don’t have to sit still in some uncomfortable position. And you don’t have to be in a quiet place for it to work. That’s because it’s an approach to meditation that was meant for people who live in the real world, with full schedules and busy minds. People with jobs, relationships, stress, noise and interruptions, and maybe even a kid or few.
In other words it’s not for monks, it’s for you.
STEP 1
Discover if the Vedic approach clicks with you.
There are two ways to you can learn what the Vedic approach to meditation is, how it’s different, and why so many people find it’s the answer they’ve been searching for. You can attend a live online intro workshop, or you can watch the intro video. The live session is more in-depth, but the video will give you enough information to know if you want to take the next step.
STEP 2
Complete a course of instruction.
I offer traditional courses in Vedic and Meditation and a related practice called FLOW Meditation, both in-person and online. All the courses I teach are designed to go step-by-step, with each lesson building on the previous one, so that upon completion you graduate knowing how to meditate effectively, with the experience and knowledge you need to make it daily habit, and with a ton of free follow-up support. It’s awesome.
Option 1: Private Vedic Meditation Immersion Course
Vedic Meditation is taught in a traditional immersion format consisting of four 90-minute sessions taken either in-person or on Zoom, usually over the course of 4-7 days. This is the course I took, with my wife, 14 years ago. It changed our lives in more ways than we could’ve ever imagined, and it can change yours.
Private Vedic Meditation Immersion courses are available for individuals, or for couples and small groups of friends/family who want to share the experience of learning together. The cost varies based on number of participants, times of sessions and any travel required.
Option 2: FLOW Meditation Self-Paced Course
This is the easiest, most-affordable way to learn the Vedic approach to meditation. Thousands of people around the world have learned this way, and you can too. FLOW Meditation is based on the traditional Vedic Meditation course, but restructured to make the practice more accessible. The course consists of 12 high-quality video lessons (each about 25-30 minutes long) which teach meditation using a proper bija mantra, plus mindfulness, breathwork and visualization techniques so that you have a full suite of tools available to be less stressed and more grounded.
Option 3: FLOW Meditation Hybrid Course
In the same way a hybrid car combines gas and electric power, the hybrid meditation course combines two different modes of teaching. You get a series of weekly live teaching sessions (offered both in-person or on Zoom) combined with an accessible, high-quality, self-paced online instructional program. So you get the personal touch of live teaching with the flexibility to learn on your own schedule. It’s a great way to learn and it can be easier to fit into your schedule. Private hybrid courses are available for individuals, couples and small groups of friends/family who want to share the experience of learning together.
What’s the difference between Vedic and FLOW Meditation?
Great question! If you want to learn more about the similarities and differences between Vedic and FLOW Meditation you can attend a free online intro workshop, or go to this page, or email me.
STEP 3
Enjoy a program of free follow-up support.
Whether you choose to learn in-person or online you’ll receive a ton of follow-up support. There are free group meditations, both online and in-person, a private Facebook community, a 16-week follow-up course with helpful tips and reminders…let’s just say I do whatever I can to help you nourish and deepen your practice.
James Brown is one of the world's leading experts on the ancient practice of Vedic Meditation, and the founder of the FLOW Meditation online program. Over the years he’s taught thousands of people, including at least a hundred who were convinced they couldn’t meditate. But they all did, and you can too.
He’s not the most overtly spiritual guy you’ll meet, and his wife refuses to let him take himself too seriously. He’s also a hard-core science geek, and is funnier and swears more than the stereotypical mediation teacher.
Which means he’s certainly not everyone’s meditation teacher…but he might be yours. You can learn more about James, and his unlikely path to become a teacher, here.
